Beginnings that didn't stop us

When we first started negotiating the purchase of the then Hotel under Spálov in 2019 – our favorite excursion spot – we had no idea what challenges awaited us. In March 2020, we paid part of the purchase price, but our plans were immediately complicated by the pandemic and its measures. Nevertheless, we did not give up. After two months of uncertainty, with the help of other investors, we bought the hotel and started working in June 2020. It was hard work, but we knew why we were doing it.

From the first modifications to the current hotel

The summer of 2020 was dedicated to basic modifications – we solved parking, made the WC operational for visitors, renovated several rooms and the adjacent cottage. We also opened a simple bistro. In 2021, we embarked on a major renovation of the accommodation and gastronomic part, and in the first half of 2022, we built a wastewater treatment plant and a new terrace. At the same time, we were preparing plans for the revitalization of the surroundings and access roads. The year 2023 was marked by completion.

History of Hotel Spálov and its surroundings

Hotel Spálov, formerly known as Crhova Tourist Lodge (1929) or later Hotel under Spálov, is a place where history meets picturesque nature. Right at the hotel, two unique Czech rivers meet – Jizera and Kamenice. Their confluence at the border of the Bohemian Paradise and the Krkonoše Mountains creates a magical atmosphere worth experiencing.

In the vicinity of the hotel, you will encounter real historical gems. The dominant feature is the unique bridge over the Kamenice from 1938. Thanks to its sensitive integration into the landscape and technical mastery, the bridge was declared a national cultural monument in 2014. Another architectural treasure is the Art Nouveau small hydroelectric power plant from 1926, which still recalls the elegance of its time.

In close proximity to the hotel is the Spálov railway stop, which was put into operation in 1934. It was in the 1930s that hiking experienced its boom, and this area was at the crossroads of popular hiking trails – Rieger's, Palacký's, and Kamenice's paths.

And if you long for a walk, Rieger's Trail, which takes you along the Jizera River, is an ideal choice. This educational trail from 1909 offers you breathtaking views and the tranquility of nature, which you can enjoy with all your senses.

Hotel Spálov is thus not only a place of rest but also a gateway to the past, nature, and technical wonders that together form a unique whole.
